Lakeland grad among tops on CMA exam

Kim Nygard, a 2009 Lakeland College graduate, has been recognized as one of the nation's top performers on the Certified Management Accountant Exam.

The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA) announced the leading performers on its CMA examination for the fall 2008 and winter 2009 periods.

Nygard, who works as a financial accountant at Schreiber Foods Inc. in Green Bay, received the Student Performance Award for the winter of 2009 by earning the highest exam score in the nation by a college student.

Nygard graduated summa cum laude from Lakeland this past May with a bachelor's degree in accounting.

Approximately 4,000 candidates took the CMA exam during each period. The honorees came from throughout the country.

DeMaster receives bankers service award

Gary DeMaster, president and chairman at Oostburg State Bank, received a lifetime service award from the Community Bankers of Wisconsin at the trade association's annual meeting in Madison.

The award honored 15 individuals who have dedicated more than 30 years serving their bank, their customers and their community.

Recipients were chosen based on their commitment to the banking industry and service to their customers and community as well as their positive attitude and personality.

DeMaster, who received the award for 36 years of service, began his career at Oostburg State Bank as a loan officer. For the past 13 years, he has served as president and chairman of the board.

3 promoted at Acuity

Sarah Daane, Tricia Deming and Lisa Doebert have been promoted within the marketing department at Acuity's Sheboygan corporate headquarters.

Sarah Daane was promoted to analyst 2-personal lines marketing. She joined Acuity in May 2004.

Daane, who lives in Sheboygan, has a bachelor's degree in communication arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Deming and Doebert were promoted to analyst 2-regulatory affairs. Deming received a bachelor's degree in marine biology at Texas A&M University in Galveston, Texas. She worked as an environmental scientist for Northern Environmental. She joined Acuity in May 2004.

Deming lives in Oostburg with her husband, David.

Doebert started at Acuity in September 2003 as a marketing product analyst. In 2004, she became an analyst 1-regulatory affairs.

Before joining Acuity, she worked in marketing and sales for State Farm Insurance. She has a bachelor's degree in political science and business administration from St. Norbert College.

Doebert lives in Elkhart Lake with her husband, Jason.

Breitbach Fenn recognized for customer satisfaction

Sue Breitbach Fenn, an American Family Insurance agent in Sheboygan, has been recognized for customer satisfaction excellence under the J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Insurance Agency Program.

Breitbach Fenn joins other American Family agents who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to outstanding customer service. She has been an agent for American Family since January 1994. Her office is at 3626 Erie Ave.

Soto joins new Prevea Health department

Prevea Health has added the Sheboygan Pulmonary Medicine regional health center at 1621 N. Taylor Drive, Suite 200.

Francisco Soto, MD, MS will be caring for patients in the new department. He will be working in conjunction with Philip M. De Trana, MD.

In addition to his expertise in pulmonology, sleep and critical care, Soto is also a specialist in pulmonary hypertension and dyspnea (breathlessness) of unclear origin.

He attended medical school at the Unversidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia, and completed his residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He was chief resident at Cook County Hospital in Chicago for a year before going to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Soto taught pulmonary and critical care courses at Baylor, as well as at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where he earned his masters of science in epidemiology.

Soto is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both pulmonary diseases and in critical care medicine. He is also Board Certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine.

He has participated in several national and international research trials and has a leading role in ongoing multicenter studies. He also has leadership positions at the American College of Chest Physicians and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association where he is an associate editor of its journal.

Soto was elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors inAmerica from 2009 to 2010.

Corrigan joins Prevea Plymouth Health Center

Family practice physician Jeffrey K. Corrigan, MD, is now practicing at the Prevea Plymouth Health Center, located within the Plymouth Medical Plaza at 515 E. Mill St.

Corrigan received his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio, and completed his residency at Mid-Michigan Regional Medical Center in Midland, Mich.
