The

UW-Extension site connects livestock producers, corn growers

A cooler than normal growing season and an early frost that ended crop development earlier than desired has left many farmers with a corn crop still high in moisture.

To facilitate the local marketing of feed commodities, the University of Wisconsin-Extension has developed a Web site where livestock producers in need of high moisture corn find corn growers who have high moisture corn for sale.

The Web site is farmertofarmer.uwex. edu .

The Farmer to Farmer Corn and Forage List is free of charge for both buyers and sellers. Users can search for high moisture corn, corn grain, haylage, hay or straw.

Buyers and sellers can search in just one county or in any number of counties at once.

"This site has been an excellent way for buyers and sellers to get in-touch locally", said Mike Ballweg, UW-Extension Crops & Soils Agent in Sheboygan County.

Neighbors often within short distances have been able to buy and sell as a result of the Web site. Buyers can locate feed for their animals easily. Sellers can find buyers and save money in grain drying costs if they sell their crop as high moisture corn.

Buyers and sellers can access the Web site immediately.

People who wish to use this service but do not have access to the Internet can get access and assistance at their county UW-Extension office.
